Annual Catholic Appeal

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

“Christ our light!  Thanks be to God!”  Each year at the Easter Vigil the Catholic Church proclaims Jesus Christ as the Light of the world. As we receive the light from the Easter Candle, we remember once again that by our baptism we are enlightened by Christ and are to walk always as children of the Light.

Light shines in the darkness; light gives hope to those living in fear or despair; light brings joy.  That is what we Catholics are able to do when we give to the Annual Catholic Appeal.  You are the Light of Christ when you support the church’s mission and ministry in the name of Christ.

Every day in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, people in need turn to the Church for help and support.  Some are lost.  Some are broken-hearted.  Some are discouraged.  Some are seeking to learn and know of God, Jesus, the Spirit and the Catholic Church. Some want better marriages; some want to be married in the Church.  Some youth want to find meaning; some youth want to share the meaning they have found in Jesus Christ.  Many wish to deepen their faith.  Many wish to do what Jesus did and bring life, caring, and sharing of gifts to a troubled society.  Our seminarians, our future priests, need help for their seminary tuition and fees.

Please pray for the success of this 2012 ACA campaign, “You are the Light of Christ”.  I ask that you participate in this campaign to help make a difference in the lives of those in need and to sustain our rich Catholic faith community here in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.  Together we can bring the brightness of Christ’s light into today’s society.

I give you my heartfelt appreciation for your generosity.  Daily I lift you and your family to God in prayer.  I ask that that you pray for me as well.  Thank you for every gift you offer in Christ’s name!

Sincerely Yours in the Risen Lord,
Most Reverend Michael J. Sheehan
Archbishop of Santa Fe

Mission Statement of
the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan

On Pentecost, 2006 the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan was promulgated by Archbishop Michael J. Sheehan. It’s mission statement reads: Commissioned by Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit the Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe is the People of God of many cultures and traditions. In union with the successor of Peter, we are a community of disciples that continues the evangelization begun by Franciscan missionaries 400 years ago through:

  • proclaiming the Gospel
  • celebrating the sacraments
  • teaching the faith
  • forming the faithful for works of service
  • evangelizing the inactive and the unchurched
  • .......all of which bear fruit in the Kingdom of God.

The Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan needs the Annual Catholic Appeal to make its work a reality.

Mission Statement of the Annual Catholic Appeal Foundation

The Archdiocese of Santa Fe is committed to share responsibility for living the Gospel and for the intellectual and spiritual development of all Catholics by giving the People of God the opportunity to be personally involved in the ministry of the Church of Santa Fe.
